She completed her post graduate fellowship in Wilmer Eye Institute at John Hopkins University in USA. She specialized in the area of anterior segment surgery (Cataract, Cornea and Laser surgery) at University of California, San Diego (UCSD) between 1993 and 1997. She represented the University of California in many international congresses and published her studies in the most reputable journals. She also contibuted to the education of many ophthalmologists and investigators. She was rewarded as the best young investigator by Bausch & Lomb in 1997. Subsequently, she was accepted to only position at the EyeSTAR Program by Jules Stein Eye Institute of the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) because of her research studies and medical accomplishments.

leylakandur_gorsel_03In 1997, Dr. Leyla Kandur (Celikkol) established EyeSTAR Lasik Institute in Istanbul-Turkey and became one of the most commonly preferred surgeons worldwide within a few years because of her excellent surgery results. She worked in this institute until 03.01.2005. After she separated from her husband who was her partner, she established her own clinic and she has been using the last name of “Kandur” instead of “Celikkol.

She is a member of the American Academy of Opthalmology (AAO), American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery (ASCRS), European Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery (ESCRS), Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology (ARVO) and Contact Lens Association of Ophthalmologists (CLAO), Turkish Medical Association (TTB), Istanbul Chamber of Medical Doctors (ITO),Turkish Society of Ophthalmology (TOD). She speaks Turkish, English and German fluently.
