Phakic IOL (Intraocular lens)
This procedure is used in patients with very high degress of vision disorder (for example, a diopter value of -12 or +6). An artifical lens is implanted in your eye, which remains there for a life time. Your own lens is kept intact. Therefore, your accomodation ability is not limited. You will not need to use eyeglasses any more with this artifical lens. With this procedure, people who can almost be accepted to be blind can see trouble-free. A disadvantage of this procedure is that surgery is expensive. This kind of surgery should be performed by a specialist of refractive surgery.
Intraocular lenses
Spherical Artisan/Verisyse (Polytech/AMO) is single-piece P-IOL fixed to the iris (Phakic fixed intraocular lens) and is composed of PMMA (Polymetyl metacrilate) (Perspeks CQ-UV) and it has a refractive index of 1,49. It is the P-IOL which has the longest clinical usage experience. It has different models and are available with diopter values between -24 and +12.
Toric Artisan/Verisyse
Toric Artisan/Verisyse (Polytech/AMO) is made of the same material as the spherixal Artisan P-IOL and is fixed to the iris with astigmatism with Haptic. It is available with values up to -7.
Artiflex
Artiflex is a three-piece, foldable P-IOL with silicon optic and PMMA-Haptics which is fixed to the iris, used in correction of myopia and is made of polysiloxane. It is available with values up to -12 .
Vivarte/GBR-M
Vivarte/GBR-M a foldable, single-piece, angle-supported P-IOL. It is used for correction of myopia and is available with values up to -22.
Vivarte Presbiopic
Vivarte Presbiyopic has generally the same design and is made of the same material as Vivarte. However, it has a multifocal optic and 2 far and 1 near areas. It is availabe with values between -5 and +5.
Safety Flex Phakic 6
Phakic 6 is a single-piece, angle-supported PMMA-P-IOL. It has a heparin-modified surface (HSM). It is used to correct myopia or hypermetropia. It is availabe with values between -25 and +10.
Icare
Icare is a foldable, single-piece, angle-supported P-IOL. It is composed of hydrophil Acril and contains 26% water. It is availabe with values between -20 and +10.
Kelman Duet
Kelman Duet (Technomed) is a two-piece, angle-supported P-IOL. It is used in correction of myopia. It is available with values up to -20.
ICL (Intraocular Contact Lens)
ICL is a foldable, single-piece, posterior chamber-supported P-IOL. It is availabe with values between -20 and +17.
PRL (Phakic Refractive Lens)
PRL is a foldable, single-piece, posterior chamber-supported P-IOL. It is used to correct myopia or hypermetropia. It should suspend on the natural lens. It is availabe with values between -17 and +13,5.
